You would have a damn fit if she stayed home with "just a cold.". Establish a policy that she stays home when she has a cold or shut up.

If it is just a cold and you don't have a newborn in the house, let your nanny work. Otherwise you are setting a precedent that could occur four to five times a year.

Colds are fine. Our nanny often works with a bit of a cold (that she likely got from taking our son to the park, library, etc.). It's better than having your nanny call in sick!

Colds are fine. Bronchitis, flu, stomach viruses and food poisoning are a different matter.

She probably got it from your kid.

Although if you haven't spoken about it now would be the time to clarify re: fevers and vomiting. Do you want to stay home with the kids if they're that sick or do you want her to and is she prepared to do so.

Yep they will share illnesses for as long as she works for you.

Yep. Just the start of a about a thousand times you'll deal with this between kids/parents/nanny.

Our nanny caught a cold and symptoms appeared last Thursday night. DD, 12 months old, woke up with a runny nose on Saturday morning. Nanny and daughter most likely were exposed at the same time.

If Nanny feels up to it, is it safe for her to work with DD on Monday?
