We are new to the area and new to not having a ft nanny, so essentially clueless.

I suggest you advertise your position as temporary and occasional childcare. It may appeal to college students or older nannies who are looking for a lighter load. You should also be open to nannies who are new to the field, this is an ideal position for someone who isn't ready to be full charge.

OP, you don't really want to employ a nanny; you want to know how to hire a temporary nanny for school vacations and where to find a summer nanny.

You are not going to find a teacher to coordinate with because most teachers do not employ nannies. And sharing is a PITA anyway, never mind with so many scheduling restrictions.

You are going to want to call an agency for school vacations. You will probably be able to find a summer nanny online on your own, but an agency would send you candidates as well if you wanted to pay the fee and save some time.

I would employ the nanny only in school holidays

Do you get paid for days off? Just because you do not need her doesn't mean that she doesn't need her psy for that time just as you need, and count, on your paycheck. Not very bright for a teacher, are you?

OP, I think the kind of solution you're looking for is challenging to find. But you might have luck w/ preschool staff who would be available to pick up school holidays or summers. Lots of preschools have staff beyond just the teachers, who can be terrific resources for parents.

Most teachers, except those with comfortable husbands or in a share are not having nannies.

Depending on the hours, that could work into a very long day for the nanny, and possibly some of the time needed would overlap.

Most teachers don't get to leave school the minute class lets out, so depending on what the hours are where they teach, they might still need the nanny at the same time your kids would.

The poster asking about the teacher schedule nanny got me thinking.

Starting in September 2017 I will need a reverse teachers schedule nanny as both my kids be in school full time. We have only ever had a full time nanny before so I don't know how it works finding someone for holidays.

Is it a common thing for people to nanny share with a teacher so they employ the nanny when school is out, but the teacher employs the nanny during school time?

Seems like it would work well if teachers have full time nannies. Especially as I imagine teachers have good nannies as they know what to look for in a childcare giver.
