What is the difference? Some may have a lot of child care experience if they were babysitting, working at day cares, etc. A nanny has to start somewhere is there is always a first job.

DH's professional office (a college in DC) employs work study students for $14/hr. Just to give you a reference.

Students babysit because they enjoy it and because it supposely pays above the minimum wage. Otherwise I'd rather have a front desk position on my resume than a nanny job. So I don't know why people assume that they can underpay a student when they're nannying.
I'm a college student and I'm working part time, guaranteed hours and make $20 an hour.

A college sitter should be between $15-20, likely closer to $15. You could ask what she'd charge or you could offer her a package with guaranteed hours and a couple vacation days with pay at $15 or $16/hr. Certainly not anywhere near $25 for a college sitter, but possibly up to $20.

My children had a camp counselor last year that was AWESOME. I know it's early, but I would like to reach out and about working for us as a college sitter.

What do college sitters usually charge to babysit 2 children (7 and 8 year olds) during the summer? Ideally, the children would go to camp 9-12 pm and I would hire her for about 25-30 hours/week.
