Who on earth do you think would actually care to see someone sitting around playing with a baby all day besides the parents of said baby? I think some of you have watched too many Lifetime Movies for Women.

What if the feed gets hacked and someone posts it online somewhere? Even if the nanny is doing a wonderful job and has nothing to hide that is still wrong on many levels. And yes, there are bored people out there who have nothing better to do then hack nanny cams. There are also stories of people hacking into the audio feed and start talking just to mess with the nanny. Really creepy.

These days it is becoming more + more common to get hacked into.

Unless the Nanny agrees to being filmed, she should be given the option of declining due to the chance that other people could also have access to the footage.

Still amazed that anyone actually employs you. They must be desperate.

What would you ask? There's nothing to ask. You know.

Also, what state do you live inOP? In California and dozens of other states it is against the law to tape or broadcast anyone's voice without their consent.

I'm in CA and there was a very obvious drop cam in the nursery (it was the baby monitor) but my boss still emailed me and let me know in writing about the camera. The old one broke and that was the replacement. I saw the camera of course but I really appreciated that my boss let me know she watches the camera sometimes.

"Jane, I noticed a camera in the playroom. I have no problem with cameras, but since you hadn't mentioned it to me I wanted to talk about it briefly. Can you tell me whether you have any others in the home, and who has access to the feeds? Obviously I have no problem with you and Dan watching, but in this day and age I'd feel a little more comfortable if I knew the parameters you've set on usage, watching, security, etc... Thanks."

That opens the conversation in a completely appropriate, not defensive way - and it also puts them in the position of having to disclose what they should have discussed with you when interviewing.

It's obviously not a hidden camera if you can see it. Ask your employers about it.

Done.

Lift up your shirt & flash the Nanny cam.

Then watch as they struggle to make eye contact w/you the next time that you see them.

That will surely show them!

How often would you have to do this for your employers to see it? I can go weeks without actually checking the nanny cam at all.

Just started a new job few days ago and I just noticed that there is a camera that is pointing directly to where me and my charge spend our playtime In The house. I was not told that I was going to be monitored on camera. I don't mind them but just a little bit of heads up would have been great. Should I ask my new boss about them or just carry on and do my job?
