We helped with this also - and it was a challenge. But the most useful thing we were able to do was find a number she could call to talk with people in her primary language.

Once we found that we were able to turn much more of it over to her.

I helped my nanny the first year. I was giving her a set amount of money, so we looked at the exchange and picked a plan. It turned out to not be exactly right for her, so we switched the next year, but all I could do was help her understand.

She had never had insurance before and didn't understand copays or deductibles ... I was very up front with her that I wasn't a pro, but that I would do my best to help.

Also, there may be people who can help. Go to the state exchange and see if there is a number to call for help selecting a plan.

How much do you assist your nanny with health insurance? I am not talking paying the premium - it is about finding a plan, etc. We have been asked to assist and want to help but it is a lot of work. She does not understand the process but this seems a bit much...
