Seems all the payroll companies can hook you up - we use Homework Solutions nanny pay service and it was very easy.

Workers' compensation is required for household employees in both DC and MD - I would have to agree that it is something to highly consider even when it is not required. GTM is licensed to setup, maintain and audit these policies in-house for youl stand-alone or with payroll/tax services.

I think it's required everywhere. And even if not required by law, you should have it for your own peace of mind. Not worth risking a nanny being injured and then having to pay the costs. Not worth the risk! If you can't afford the $600 for workers comp then re-think whether you can afford a nanny.

If you use Homepay for payroll they offer workers comp (and you might be able to use the insurance even if you're not using Homepay for payroll). It's between $600-700 p/year if I remember correctly. State Farm used to offer it but they've stopped.

For those in DC who have workers' compensation insurance for their nanny: what insurer do you use/recommend?
