Ours do not record voice. We do not have "serious trust issues." We have a disabled child who cannot speak for herself, and have another child as well. Neither are great at answering "How was your day? What did you do today?" So we check in, and know.

No idea. The mom just said she wanted to watch the kids because she missed them. It's been 2 years since the nanny cam and I'm still here so I guess they like what they see lol

I think before filming another person, full disclosure is the most respectful thing to do.

Reason being is that an excellent Nanny/Parent relationship is vital in order for the job to work out & starting off the position on a deception does not bode well for anyone.

I advise you tell your Nanny about the cameras now.
However be prepared for your Nanny to feel betrayed + end up giving you her walking papers.

This is just a risk you will have to take, but one you MUST take.

OP here: It's not hidden very well, she might notice it eventually. There's a cord hanging down and it's on top of a speaker.

OK, maybe I will say something, I'm sure it's fine with her - and it's not like I was TRYING to hide it, I guess it's just an awkward conversation.

That said, I only look at it a couple times a day, if that - depends if I have time.

Nanny here. I have no problem with employers using nanny cams. I would quit if they recorded me without my knowledge.

What do you mean by it's not hidden very well? Does that mean it IS hidden? Or that it's someplace in the open but where the nanny might not notice it? If the former, I would let the nanny know. If the latter, I would not say anything.

You should have told her in the beginning. I think you should find a way to tell her sooner rather than later.

FTM with new nanny and 8.5 month old. We got a Nest as a nanny camera, and it's not hidden very well. It's in the living room. I feel bad like I should let the nanny know it's there, and I'm sure she's seen it anyway or will eventually. She's been great so far, and it's mostly to ease my mind and just see what baby is up to once in awhile. It does not record audio. Should I tell her about it and explain we have it - to protect us all, or just let it be the elephant in the room? We have a Wiithings monitor camera in nursery too that I'm sure she's seen. She is an older, experienced nanny; I'm just still paranoid of my baby being left alone for long periods or God forbid something else.

Thoughts? Did you tell your nanny if you had a camera? Why or why not?
