I have worked as a part-time nanny going into my fourth year.
I was referred to my current family by another family that I used to also work for regularly. I still do occasional babysitting for them still & we maintain a really good relationship.
Anyway my current family is a great fit.
I get paid a little less than what most nannies in my area make. (Yes, I have asked around plus I have done some research too!).
But since I love my charge, they are really flexible & they are awesome bosses to the hilt, I always figured the pay was good enough for me since I also have money coming in monthly from a boarder who rents out my 2nd bedroom in my apartment.
A few months back, I was babysitting my previous family's child + the mother paid me a little more than she usually did.
I felt really odd and taken aback and remarked that the amount she gave me was really more than I felt I deserved since her child is older now.
She firmly replied back that I needed to stop "underestimating" myself & forced the money into my hand.
Now last week, both MomBosses had lunch together w/a few other friends so I watched my current charge.
I noticed when my MomBoss came home, she seemed a little different to me.
Just a weird vibe that I felt, but soon forgot.
Then I receive a text message the very next day letting me know that she would be implementing a $1/Hr. raise for me to show me how happy she is w/my job performance.
I was wondering if my previous MomBoss could have asked her over lunch how much she paid me, then when she found out how low the amount was, perhaps she stuck up for me and told her that she was under-paying me??
But in all honesty, I didn't think MomBosses ever discussed how much they pay their nannies.
Could this have simply been a mere coincidence?
What do you guys think?
Any input would be helpful to me.
