Only if their employers do. We gave the holidays we were both off, added the day after TG and Xmas eve, but did not give off Columbus Day, Veteran's Day, MLK Day, and President's Day.
With the exceptional number of snow days in the last few years, MLK Day and President's Day in particular would have been real hardships. If OP is giving a third guaranteed, paid week off between Xmas and New Year's, I think her holiday list is fine.

Your package sounds decent, so her off days also include sick leave ? Also, maybe thanksgiving and day after (not necessary but atleast thanksgiving !) I am young and don't require a 401k or IRA, but as I am reaching my mid 20's, I will eventually seek a family or new career that will offer a 401K package, that's important. Just something to think about if you plan to hire someone of quality and especially if having a degree is a requirement.

My benefit package included the following for one baby for only baby related duties baby laundry, sterilizing bottles and cleaning the home once a week on Friday's ( small two bedroom already tidy apartment)
23/h, health insurance, 2 weeks vacation, 3 days sick leave, iPhone, phone plan cause they want precious moments captured for memories. Really happy with it.

Subject: Typical nanny benefits package and background check communication
We are hiring a nanny for the first time to care for our newborn. What is a typical benefits package offered for the area? I was thinking 10 PTO days, 5 major federal holidays (Christmas, New Years, Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day) and week between Christmas and New Years.
Also, if we like the candidate, would it be fair to make a conditional offer and ask for a copy of her driver's license at the in-person interview, letting the candidate know you'll be doing a background check and that if it is clean, you'll meet one more time to discuss final offer/contract?
