I'm the poster who said, my employers are late every night. Yes, I'm paid for it, but, still frustrating when it's every night. I have trouble looking them in the eyes, because I feel like below them.

I certainly hope you're paid for it. Why would you have the problem looking them in the eye when they are the ones doing wrong?

Exactly. Just for the fact that op is willing to shake up a constant in her kids lives (4years!) because the nanny doesn't float through the door on bubbles and butterflies every morning. Ego can cause tragedies smh

Op is probably one of those annoying parents whose kids act worse when they are home. More than likely in denial and takes forever getting out of the door so that the nanny can actually do her job and not worry about focusing on a mb that's acts like a needy attention starved child.

I get agitated with the parents of my charges. But as far as the kids go they brighten my day. Their parents walk a thin line and sometimes act like I'm there to be their friend. So annoying. Please go.

Perhaps there's been some sort of misunderstanding that you are not aware of? Or has she been like that from day one?

I would maybe say something like 'Hey Jane, I noticed you haven't been very cheerful in the mornings, is something the matter or something that I can do to help?'

Someone mentioned here being tipped $150 every couple months. I think that's a great moral booster. Why don't you try that op?

You should stand up for yourself:
Tell them to stop being late
Demande to b paid for your time
Quit if they don't change

The truth is no one is cheerfully happy to b at work every morning. Your nanny just can't fake and hide this feeling period. Most nannies are happier when parents are out the door then they can relax and do their job in peace without someone there monitoring them.

Have you asked her if there is something bothering her? Maybe she doesn't find you approachable.

Yes, I know it seems like so small. But I want to be a good employer and it just upsets me that she is so rude to me in the morning. Honestly, I don't think she likes me that much, even though I have been really good to her...deep down I don't care because she cares for my children like they are her own.

Perhaps it's a good thing she's the children's nanny for a good reason. If she's stable, competent and loving towards the children, kiss her feet.

Do you know for certain that she's in a better mood when you leave? If not, that would concern me.

It's not at all professional, but maybe she's just not a morning person. Is she in a better mood at the end of the day? It would also concern me if she seemed to resent having to look at you at all times.

I will start by saying our nanny LOVES our children and is perfect, except for the fact that every morning she is very grumpy. Looks mad and barely looks me in the eye. She has worked for us for 4 years but this is really getting old. She is under a lot of pressure (long story and not relevant) but we all are? Just not sure I can put up with it for one more minute but then again, this is really the only thing she does that bothers me...
