This is only partly true, care.com gives you the option to be able to contact the family directly. If you choose to apply via care.com, you pay nothing. If you can directly contact a family you may get ahead of all the applications going by way of care.com. I am not a care rep and I just sent an application at no cost.

You're incorrect. Some states are using a " token" system and others are given 8 free application a month. If you want to apply to anything over that, you have to upgrade. What sucks is they used to offer a free basic background check with their membership but now you have to pay $60-80 for one. This site is a huge ripoff.

Then it looks like Care.com does not work for you. I am thinking this is an agency, they are great at degrading online services. And FYI I send several apps a week and pay nothing, actually families find me.

I'm a nanny. You can apply if you've had an account for longer but a new user has to pay.

I will never, ever pay to apply to a job. The fact is, Care.com brags about the large number of nannies in their database, but fail to mention that at least half (I would guess) will never apply to their jobs due to this ridiculous token system.

I work through agencies and found it very amusing and laughable when I went to check my old profile after receiving an email from the site. I decided to browse to see if any evening sitting jobs were listed in my area. When I saw their "token" system I LOLed. I wish I would PAY to apply to sitting jobs that have probably already been applied to by 10 others. Or are listed by scammers. I think it should be shut down for sure

Are you freakin' serious.....??!

You must now purchase credits to simply respond to a job listing????

Man, this website is making money off of parents AND nannies too!!

It is no better than CL or posting a flyer on the bulletin board at your local laundromat.

I haven't been on for about three years (I know, big help right...??!)

But I always have & always will consider it highway robbery.

Bad business model.

Parents shouldn't have to pay $$ to go on a website where virtual strangers can post a free profile + attach the label "Professional" Nanny.

Bump.

Do you pay to use Care.com? Apparently I have to buy credits to apply to positions. Am I missing anything here?
