What reason did you give for quitting?

OP here- hurts my feeling but everyone is right to just move on....I'm beyond disappointed. First I thought she's calling to ask how I was feeling as I was crying with the kids when I was leaving yesterday on my last day. Thank you everyone again!!

I would ignore her unreasonable request and just do whatever I want.

Looks like she still is trying to assert a certain amount of control in your life.

I'm surprised you are surprised that you didn't get a goodbye gift. Seems your employers showed you how little they thought of you the whole time. Why did you stay so long?

Block her number and email address and move on in whatever way you see fit. Just don't trash talk her to future employers even after you're hired. Be discreet.

Don't respond to her at all - just apply to whatever jobs interest you. She can't honestly think you would avoid an entire area.

No bonus or gift after 4 years is shocking.

Seriously, if you can afford to pay a nanny for years you can dip your hand in your pocket for 3-14 days pay (depending on you financial situation) when it's bonus time. And if you have four kids, you're hardly strapped.

I feel like there should be some confidentiality after a family-nanny relationship ends, like not discussing your ex's and housemates bad habits and less pride-inducing traits after you part ways. But, trying to control where you work is crazy.

Omg I just finished work for a family that I worked for for many years with 4 kids...they underpaid me, overworked me, abused me...I ran the hole household plus taking care and driving 4 kids....anyways she calls me just now asking me to not look for jobs in the same town as they live, because somebody that knows us told her that they saw me looking for jobs and what happened hahaha
She's very uncomfortable ...
I quit with a months notice, the kids and I are heart broken and cried, we love each other, I just can't deal with her anymore.
And what did I get as a good buy gift??? NOTHING. No money, no picture, no gift card. Nothing.
So I'm so pusses because how can she call me and tell me this now???
Am I overreacting? Im I in the wrong or is she in the wrong?
How would you handle this situation? Would you keep applying to jobs you'd like, regardless of what town they live in,
or would you make sure to avoid her town?
