Offer her weekend babysitting gigs so that she can continue her relationship with your daughter.

Also.....if you have any friends, colleagues + neighbors in need of childcare promise to spread good word about her.

Offer to give her an excellent glowing reference as well as offer a parting gift for her to show your thanks for her wonderful service.

This week I told our nanny (we are in a share) that we will probably start day care this fall/winter. She seemed a little upset and I don't blame her, and I just feel really bad. Our DD will be two and she loves the nanny, but I think she is ready for day care and it's a little cheaper. Any advice how I can not feel bad and somehow comfort the nanny, other than offer to help her find a new position or family?
