Are you being paid salary??
Then it does seem she is stretching out her dollars out.

If paid hourly, maybe she is thinking that you need your regular, weekly hours.

Let her know you can afford to take a few days off if you truly can.

Here is my take on this, I know many will say banking hours are illegal so no worries if you do not agree. Often in my positions I will do day trades because when I am hired I am asked if I am flexible to work weekends and holidays on occasion. Here is the deal however, this has worked with families that I have a long time employment with but neither party takes advantage or feel taken advantage of. This has not worked with families that want and will not give back.

OP does this happen often, what is in your contract

Agree.
1. You do not work on weekends.
2. If she doesn't pay you your regular pay when she doesn't want you to come, you get another job. Her demands are NOT acceptable. She's trying to take advantage of you. Don't let her. If she insists, start looking for your next job. When you find something you like, quit. No notice for bad employers. Period.

No. Not the norm. Tell her that you are busy and not able to work that weekend.

I am a full-time nanny for a 10 month old and the MB said that she is going on a short vacation so I will have off on Friday and Monday. This is great, however, she said that she would need me to work the following weekend in exchange for those days. Is this the norm?
