I wouldn't read too much into it op. I think most nanny boss's struggle in the area of when is nanny off work. For instance if you get off work at 5:30 but he pulled in at 5:26. It's Never really a clear end time. I never leave until I am dismissed. He was probably just letting you know you were off work and free to leave. That was probably made more difficult being infront of his neighbor. Maybe he was embarrassed pulling out his boss card infront of the neighbor.

You're the only person who knows what he could've meant by it. From what you told us two things are possible: he didn't want you to feel like you have to stay past your end time, or he wanted to get rid of you.
I had a super rude dad once too. I was babysitting past midnight and once the parents came home I ordered a cab. MB and I sat chatting while I was waiting, and suddenly the dad appeared in his pjs already going 'hey honey isn't it time for bed' essentially kicking me out. It was like five minutes! The look the MB gave him, aw. She apologised for him, but that was only one of the many weird borderline rude things he's done, so I never liked him.

Op here the dad has made me feel uncomfortable at times in the past. The mom has always been very friendly. I am not sure what to think.

It sounds like he wanted you to leave and he wasn't super tactful about saying it.
What are you thinking his motives are here? It sounds to me like he was either planning on going inside very soon, and/or he had something personal he wanted to talk about with the neighbor.

It could be that he didn't you around but it could've been that he told his child to say bye so you didn't feel like you had to stick around. Have the parents ever acted rude towards you? I've never had this happen. My nanny family had family over last week. I stayed late to babysit ( mom is in 80"s) and at the end time the dad goes " You can stay and hangout if you want". I did for about 30 minutes ( offered me wine) and then I left. Maybe the tension has made it difficult to be around.
