OP here. He isn't a big baby. How long has you been a nanny? You should know that every baby is different. Some eat more than others. He eats 27-32oz of a milk a day, which is appropriate for his age.

To pp - sleep begets sleep. They need to sleep well during the day to sleep well at night, and vice versa.

You say yourself every baby is different. For every baby sleep does not beget sleep. And if the baby is already sleeping well during the night according to you, why would the mom be complaining?

Also, most babies at this age that drink 2-4oz are waking up during the night. He sleeps 10 hours a night. He eats his calories during the day, which is normal. He weighs 13bs and 24 inches long. His pediatrician is very happy with his growth.

Also, not to be snarky but a 4.5 month old is an infant, not a newborn. A child is no longer a newborn after 12 weeks.

She feels he will not sleep through the night if he sleeps too much during the day.

Pp here also if a baby is taking a longer nap in the morning it will HELP him sleep longer at night not the other way around. The longer he sleeps in the morning for his first nap the less he will need in the afternoon and soon it will be able to stretch to where he may not even need a late afternoon nap at all and just go to bed a little earlier for the evening

Op here. She is generally laid-back. She is a first time parents and I think doesn't know too much about babies. I told her babies also go through multiple growth spurts in the first year. The dad also thinks he sleeps too much. Babies this age spend most of their days sleeping. Prior to me starting he was a terrible sleeper and always cranky because they would keep him up 5-6 hours at a time.

I am a nanny to an adorable 4.5 month old boy. He was month early so age adjusted is around 3.5 months old. As most know, babies require a large amount of sleep. My charge has been taking a long morning nap for past week, which MB says is too long. He isn't scheduled but does have a somewhat predictable routine ( see below). He has been taking a 2-2.5 hour nap in the morning instead of his 1-1.5 hour nap. MB wants me to wake him up after 1.5 hours but he gets so cranky because he's tired. I told her it's normal and he needs to sleep. It hasn't altered his day much except he dropped mid-morning. How can I make her see she is doing more harm than good by making me wake him. He gets overtired and either naps all afternoon ( 3-4 hours) or barely naps. He sleeps 15-16 hours in a day.

Wakes at 7, 6oz of milk, play
Nap 8:30 -9:30/10 ( now 8:30 - 10;30/11)
Wakes, eats, 5oz, play, go on adventure ( classes, walk, park)
Nap - Dropped 11:30/12 ( one hour) nap. Now naps 1-3/:30
Wakes, eats 5oz, more adventure or inside play
Naps 5/5:30 - 6/6:30
Wakes, eats 5oz, plays with MB ( arrives 6/6:30)
Bedtime routine starts at 8 ( bath, bottle ( 6oz), book)
Sleeps 9 - 7, may wake 3/4 for feed
