Agree with PP I do not use agencies anymore and I am a professional with more then 20 years experience. Often the nanny with an agency also has a profile on care.com.

I agree with #1, but not #2. Agencies have been a massive waste of my time. I'm referring to the "best" of them.

Op, ask others to post on their list serves for you. Perhaps your compensation package is unacceptable considering your expectations? I don't know.

The best nannies are hard to find, and you have to compete for them. Same in any field.

MB here- we're looking for a new nanny and I'm desperate to find a *good* place to search. We used to use our neighborhood listerve in DC which was great but now we live in a market where that doesn't seem to be yielding good results. Care.com and craigslist didn't turn up any professional nannies- mostly just people between jobs or who said "I have a lot of siblings" for their experience. I briefly used an agency for something short term and I would consider doing it again but the price is really high and I'd prefer to put that $ towards a nanny's salary and benefits rather than a random third person. Do professional/career nannies go through agencies? How can an MB find you?
