This thread is making me giggle. This nanny is being told how irresponsible she is for letting a rarely-used license expire. Last week in a thread in another section a woman's passport expired and she needed to have it expedited. Nobody chewed her out about responsibility. OP, renew your license and move on. There are better fish in the sea.

I personally wouldn't care about the license expiring. That has happened to me before too. But if I told you that I would be back before the end of the week, and I got several emails from you by Wednesday, I would be pretty turned off. It isn't my job to quiet down your overactive superego.

As explained in this thread already, new license or not, this woman has already shown herself to be irresponsible to let her license expire (a sign of issues to come with the family) and if she drives so little to be in this situation no parent should trust their children in their car, and has been said even if driving is not part of the job having a good driver is a safety issue.

Go get your license today or tomorrow. and when the clean background check comes in, email MB with your background check and a picture of your new license, and tell her you would very much like to work for the family.

God forbid there's an emergency I want to know my nanny is capable of grabbing the spare set of keys and hopping in the car to take my kids to the emergency room. But aside from that, if you know your lack of something will get noticed, you get it taken care of. I never notarize anything - but I'm a notary and keep my ability to be one up to date. Even though it's not required for my job. Lastly, allowing something you have to expire is a sign of irresponsibility. Stay on top of your things.

Have to agree with this one, it really does not matter that you drive so little that you did not notice your licence expired, a lesson learned. Would you let it slip if a charge was on medication and you just forgot, or did not read instructions correctly. As a nanny you must notice the little things, food can expire and you forget to check that a child could get sick. You should really wait till you renew your licence before applying again or look for positions where you do not drive.

I interviewed last Friday with a family. The interview went well and I liked them. The mom complimented me on many things, and said they would be making a decision by this week. A couple hours after the interview, she texted me and asked me if I could run the background check she requested. I did, along with a "thank you" message. The driving part came in. I didn't get a badge ( Sittercity) because I didn't pass their qualifications of having a valid license ( it was expired). They did however, run the check, and it came back clean with no incidents. I reached out and explained that to her. I asked for her email to send the report. I also told I will renew license asap ( expired a week ago) and rerun it.

I noticed she edited the pay range on her ad. She hasn't reached out to me. I sent a follow-up message and told her I would appreciate knowing if they aren't interested. Nothing. I am not interested due to the lack of professionalism and communication on their part. Even if they aren't interested, she should say so. I also offered to cover the cost of the background check ( criminal part still processing).

My question is due to the lack of response and re-editing, is it safe to assume they're not interested. Should I follow-up once the criminal part is processed ( in a day or so), or just not reach out? I also wonder if I should write them that I'm no longer interested due to lack of communication on their part. What would you do?
