I was contacted by two families for two different positions. One wanted to offer $280/week for 40 hours. The other wanted to pay $10 for 50/ hours a week, as well as major housekeeping and care of a 3 month old. I wrote them my pay rate, and reported them to care.com. Care.com goes and closes my account. What kind of business sides with families paying illegal wages? I am so livid about their practices.
Though I agree online services can be frustrating, it works for allot of people. Personally I would use online to obtain employment over an agency any day, and by the way there are allot more unethical agencies then using online. Online is a self serve in bringing employers and candidates together and many people like it. I get to decide if a family is a fit for me instead of a person from an agency that thinks they can judge me and I do not like being sold by an agency. I am wondering if this OP is really an agency, or someone helping and agency trying to shut down care.com because they are losing business.
