I think it's a bit weird but I can see why you'd be frustrated. How about "native English speaker" if you think that is a concern.

As an employer with kids learning to talk that would be my only issue (and it's a stereotype, yes, but not a totally inaccurate one). If it's beyond that, it seems like it would be racism in some form. If people are hoping you speak Spanish maybe you could also add "no foreign language skills" but I'd leave it there.

Can you go by your first and middle name on sites and then only offer your full name at the interview? My guess is people are trying to screen through hundreds of candidates and are stereotyping, but would be fine with you once they met you.

I would look oddly at a posting that said that you were caucasian. I would assume you have some level of bigoted mindset and probably wouldn't be a fit for us (and we're a garden variety white family.) But I think putting it out there like that is odd and it would be a turn-off to me.

I was going to explain but the wondered if me including that can be perceived as racist or off-putting?

If you posted on DCUM looking for a job then I think I remember reading your post (though I never wrote to respond or question). It did give me pause and I wondered why race was mentioned, but shrugged it off assuming the poster had their reasons.

I am white and Hispanic . I literally look what I am. That doesn't help me to get better jobs offers . What help is that I am bilingual.

Saying you're white does come off as racist. Saying you're not bilingual is absolutely fine.

Not really. I know many Hispanics who are light skinned.

Doesn't really matter if they are Hispanic if they are light skinned though so it's moot.

I'm not hispanic but look like I might be. So even though I don't have a hispanic last name, I still get asked this.

I would suggest that you not post your last name in your profile. And yes, don't specifically mention that you are caucasian. I don't see why anyone would have an issue with you mentioning that you are not bilingual.

Seems like I read a couple years back on one of the dot com websites like care dot come or sittercity dot com that having a photo with your profile increases your chances of being contacted by parents by 25 percent or something like that. I know that has been true for me. And the parents who have hired me have told me that also.

"I'm not bilingual" is informative. "I'm caucasian?" I'm with the person who said why is that relevant.

Whether you're Hispanic or not, the bilingual question has come up, so address it. The race question is irrelevant.
