Depending on the man, the kids, and his level of experience I would absolutely consider it.

My husband was a fabulous daddy day care provider. He was actually recruited to start the business by our neighbors who needed child care.

OP, I think it could work, but your DH would need to prepared to be scrutinized very closely. Along with being licensed, I would suggest he pay for his own extensive background check that he would offer to potential clients. He might also confide offering personal and professional references.

Basically, he needs to be transparent when it comes to proving he is a safe childcare choice. Fair? Not when people are out there leaving their kids in female run family day care without inquiring about the men living with those women.

+1000 I wouldn't be comfortable as well. Not to say his intentions are bad or he's a bad person I just wouldn't feel comfortable.

Depends on the guy. I know two gym coaches that I would leave my young child with in a heartbeat.

I am a male nanny and have had no problem finding families to work for. When I do have my own kids I hope to do the same as your husband.

My DH has been a SAHD for periods with our three kids (oldest now 8, youngest 3) as we've moved for my job a lot. He's working but not happy in his current role and we'd love for him to be home again with the kids but want some extra income. Would you consider an in-home care run by a dad? The older two are in ES, and we'd only think of having max two more kids, in addition to our youngest. We have space, playroom, pack N plays, strollers, all the gear, playground, etc. in a nice area in MoCo. We would want him to get licensed & registered by the county, all legit, but would families be hesitant if it's the dad running the in-home care? I'd love to hear thoughts as we research this idea, thanks.
