First - begin job searching immediately and don't resign until you've lined up a new job (with a signed working agreement!)

Second - keep it professional. Write a letter of resignation and had it to them while giving verbal notice as well. Give at least 2 weeks notice, ideally 4 weeks if you can suck up staying that long.

Example resignation letter:

Dear Nanny Family,

This is to let you know I will officially be resigning as you nanny. My last day is X.

I've truly enjoyed being a part of Child's life and watching them grow and develop into such a happy, independent child.

I'm happy to help train a new nanny prior to my last day with you.

Sincerely,
Your Name

Get a new job FIRST. Then once you have the start date of say, May 1st. Then give two weeks notice in writing.

Dear Jane and Dave,

Although it has been lovely caring for Larlo and Larla, I have made the decision to move on. My last day will be two weeks from now, April 32nd. According to my records I have accrued six unused vacation days, so will look forward to those being paid out, along with my final check on April 32nd.

How do I resign a nanny job? There are many reasons why, I don't feel the family respects me, mom micromanages everything I do. More reasons...I feel it's best to wait till pay day? How long do you wait to tell your boss you're ready to move on? Resignation letter, tell in person?
