Also, PP - note that $25/hour is unheard of for a full time position. The trouble with getting someone to show up for two hours, is that if you with a more typical rate, it's too low to make sense. $15/hour for a full day, sure. $30, probably not worth your trouble.

Thanks, Pp. can you say more about why it didn't work? Funny that now the au pair agencies are trolling this forum! You'd think they'd do a better job selling the program on the au pair forum - as it stands now, it's just posters totally unrelated and informed about the program screaming abuse.

What a weird accusation on all counts. Funny, I've also been accused of not really being a HM because I'm critical of the program. Now I'm the agency.

We ran through 3 nannies who just could not be reliable, offering $25, in Baltimore. Now we have an au pair. It's not ideal but it's the only thing that worked.

Sure, but again, I'm looking for actual experiences of parents having done this and whether or not they were actually able to find someone reliable.

From what I see on this forum, most parents get a $15-20/hr range stuck in their heads and then complain endlessly. You are wise to offer significantly more.

OP here. I didn't say this, but we've had au pairs. Not for us. Living with and hosting a young person was too much, especially given that it costs so much (more even than 20 hours a week at $25 for a sitter). We also only really need 10-15 hours, so nowhere close to the 45 for an au pair.

I realize that I could post it and see what we get. Just curious to hear of any employers have actually been successful in finding this. Thanks again!

They're called au pairs.

I'm in that typical kids-in-elementary school, need an hour before school and an hour after situation. We've tried before/after care and none of us are happy. The kids don't like waking up so early, I feel like I'm always hustling them out of the house, and they're exhausted when they get home. I've heard many warnings against trying to find someone for the split schedule. If we do a guaranteed 20 hours a week at $20-25/hour, do you think we can find someone who could commit to the full school year?
