Unless you are here under a special visa, you cannot bring a foreign national into this country to work for you. If you care a US you citizen, even a naturalized citizen, you cannot bring a maid in from your country.

I had an Au Pair in Sugarcreek, Ohio. The middle of Amish country. I will admit that she was the only one. She had to drive up to Akron to meet friends.

Desperately want to hire a nanny from another country-it's the only real shot I have of giving my son exposure to our mother tongue. I don't speak it well enough to teach it to him. Without it, I fear he will grow up like I did-feeling left out of family events, embarrassed, and disenfranchised. DS is only one. If it is a multi-year process I am willing to do it. Anyone BTDT?
