Knowing nothing else about her, it makes me really question her judgment/professionalism.

Obviously, please ignore if she addressed this aspect or if she insists no payment is needed.

The kids have played together before. Her employers know and encourage the play dates. I'm always there when she comes over. She and I both watch the children while they play together. This is the first time she's ever had all the kids without me there. I attempted to give her cash when I got home and she refused to take it. I'm just going to add it to her check when she babysits tomorrow night. Thank you!

Of course not. I don't know how this works. No need to be rude.

Then just say you'll discuss it with her and establish a fair hourly pay rate. That's all.

Why a reduced rate?

even if she's not expecting it, the best thing for the relationship would be to grease the wheel.

Our regular sitter is a nanny. I texted her the other day to ask if she happened to be off today (due to Spring Break) to babysit. She said she wasn't, but offered to bring her two charges over to play with my two charges while I run out for a couple hours. They are all of similar age and are all boys.
Do I pay her for this? I'm asking because I honestly don't know. I want to be fair to her, as she is doing me a huge favor.
