Also a lot of it depends on locale as well.
Even though two nannies may both live in CA, the one in Bakersfield will make much less than the one in the Bay Area like San Francisco.

Mother's helper instead of sitter or nanny lowers the rate, two kids under 5 at the pool raises the rate slightly. So $11-13/hour for a high school student that has some experience, $9-11 for a high school student without experience.

I think 10$ is appropriate for a high schooler, there not professionals, don't have any bills/responsibilities and it's still more money than they'd make at McDonald's and certainly easier than. Anything over 10$ an hour you're over paying OP

I think you'd be in the $10-13/hr range.
For two kids alone, at a pool, I'd pay more. For helping you (you're around the whole time) I'd be closer to the $10 mark.

I hired a HS sitter once before, and even though I asked her multiple times what she typically gets paid, or if she has a set rate, she just kept telling me that they all pay her differently, and that she'd be fine with whatever I paid. I paid her $10, which she said was fine, but I never really knew if that was below or above average. Just want to pay a fair rate.
Why don't you women care about these poor girls? Please tell them they'll never be taken seriously if they keep telling people to pay them whatever you want. Teach them some common sense about these things, and how to value themselves.

I have 2 kids under 5 and will need an extra pair of hands at the pool during the summer, 2-3 mornings a week. How much an hour would be reasonable?
