Why not simply communicate with her, OP?

She may also be doing it to give you a few minutes to get home and settled, dinner started, laundry started, etc. If you'd like him home earlier, just tell her. Or, I like the dinner at the park idea.

I agree that you shouldn't be paying her for extra time if she voluntarily brings your daughter home later than her work day ends.

I suggest you let her know how important it is for you to have the opportunity to spend as much time w/your daughter as you can and that you would like her home when you get there.

She probably doesn't realize how important this is to you.

I'm sometimes late coming home. It's never because I'm hanging out with other nannies but always because the little guy is having too much fun with his friends and doesn't wanna go home. He begs for extra minutes and it's hard to make him leave, especially the first couple of nice days after the winter.

Just talk to her and ask her to try to get home on time.

Can you shower or start dinner? Is it only this part week? If so I'd let it go and be very happy your nanny enjoys time with your child.

I would just tell her what you've said here. You love that they are outside, you appreciate that it's only a few minutes, but you get so little time together that every minute is precious. I am sure she'll understand!

No, we don't pay because we're home waiting for her lol. If she were home waiting for us we'd definitely pay OT. She hasn't asked for OT... I think it's more an issue that the nannies she hangs out with all work until 6:30, so she has to leave before them from the park or whatnot.

Thank you for clarification OP. I would suggest speaking with her and just letting her know (kindly of course ) that dinner and family time is important to your family and to please have baby home by 6pm. I don't think it would be an issue for nanny. im thinking she's not aware that it cuts into your time together. She could possibly be giving you a few min to get settled in..good luck op, and yes you have a good nanny ?

Thank the lord for nicer weather! But for the past week our nanny has been bringing our daughter home after 6 when we're home and ready to see our little girl. It's never more than 15 minutes, but we have basically an hour with her of dinner, bath, and bed, and it cuts into that time.

I'm delighted she enjoys this enough to not be at the door at 5:59 dying to leave, so I guess this is a good problem to have?
