Why not do a nanny share with just the babies?

OP here .. thanks for all the replies. I agree it would be pretty ridiculous to have 4 kids lol. My neighbor floated the idea to us when we got pregnant with #2 and I thought I would look into it. But I am really just leaning toward keeping kids in daycare. Our DD now loves her daycare and enjoys the interaction with other kids. I am afraid she would get bored at home with only one other toddler everyday.

Plus it does seem way more expensive for a nanny!

This would be beyond ridiculous.

You need to provide a vehicle that has car seats installed, not arranging daily. You would need to provide a stroller that can accomodate infants and possibly a tag-a-long, such as an attached scooter. Your cost would likely be above $20/hr. You will have employer taxes on top of that. There will also need to plenty of time between drop-offs/ pick-ups if the preschoolers are at different schools. This is a very busy and complicated situation. You will need someone with a great work history and the confidence to take this on. $25 would be the absolute minimum I'd require take this postion, but $27-30 is more appropriate. Your kids will also not get the one on one attention you may desire, but people have four kids, so it's doable.

You're concerned about two drop off locations for two kids.
Can you imagine doing two drop off locations with two kids while bringing two infants along?

Why not a interview a bit to put out feelers? But no, a nanny would not want 4 kids from 2 families.

We have a one year old and are expecting again (DD will be 20 months when new DC is here). We are currently at a wonderful daycare and the new baby will go there too (in home care - $300 a week for each child). Once DD is 2 she has to leave and go to a different daycare (~$385 per week). So in all we will be paying $685 per week for childcare. I am a bit concerned with two drop offs and pick ups a day but I work from home 4 days a week so it shouldn't be horribly difficult.

I would love to hear about nannys though to give it some thought. How much would you charge for 2 children ages 23 months and infant? When someone says $20 an hour does that include taxes, FICA, payroll, etc?

Also would one nanny be able to do 4 kids? We have neighbors who would be interested in doing a nanny share with a 3 month old, 8 months old, 23 month old and 4 year old. Is that even doable? Older children will go to preschool a few days a week.
