I feel mixed about it, but hope that the nanny wouldn't take it personally if it's just at the door.
Most nannies won't have an issue with one entry camera. I've worked for an employer who was extremely safety-conscious (had a camera pointed at every door and window), but they were also quick to say that there had been a few break-ins in the neighborhood. Personally, I don't mind nanny cams, but either tell me where the visible ones are or let me know how many hidden ones you are installing. I don't want to know where the hidden cams are.
Why would they tell you about "visible" cameras? Wouldn't you simply see them?? Don't be silly here.
Well of course I didn't tell them. Then they wouldn't abuse their children right?Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Nanny here but same thing. I started working for a family a few years back and initially thought I saw some red flags in terms of possible abuse so I set up a camera as well. Once I realized they weren't mistreating their kids I stopped watching except for when I just wanted to see my charges for a cheer-up. Has nothing to do with mistrust now.Anonymous wrote:I think it probably means she's realized she's missing out and wants to check in on her kids.
FWIW, I have a nanny cam, and after DH and I were convinced the nanny we'd hired wasn't abusing our baby, we only watched to see the baby. I found myself not watching the nanny at all. The only time we checked to actually watch the nanny was when we noticed our DD goes through a difficult stage personality-wise, to see if she was giving the nanny a hard time, or just us.
Excellent idea. Do I need to tell them? I think everything would be more natural if I don't mention it.
