The first few times my in-laws visited I asked the nanny to work, just to teach them what the babies liked and what their schedules were.

When my father and step-mother visited, I paid the nanny extra to deal with my step-mother who is Lifetime Movies for Women-level crazy and would steal the older baby if she could.

I finally feel like I have the best scenario in my current nanny job! The grandparents come to visit a lot, so I get a lot of freebie paid days off. It's amazing how many times I've worked for families when the grandparents come to visit and I still end up having to work because apparently the grandparents are there to be entertained and not actually have to do anything in helping care for their grandchildren. It sickens me when I have seen that. My parents beg to take care of my daughter when we visit them or they visit us. I hate seeing grandparents who suddenly are rendered incapable when they visit and need the nanny there but then do nothing but try to micromanage the nanny.
