It really burns you up that someone else is happy huh? What a sad way to live, needing to tear down others to convince yourself of your worth. $25/hour is an annual salary of $52k. There are many people making less doing much more difficult jobs.

For me (live-in, willing to work anything from very part-time up to 24.7), it would be $500-1000. I would listen to you talk about the position, ask questions so that I knew exactly what the parameters were, and your answers would tell me what I would want to be paid. The more freedom I have to decide when things need to be done and how to do them, the more that children WILL verbalize (can is irrelevant, a preteen can talk, but frequently won't), and the better the chemistry between the parents and nanny, the more I like a position. For a position I love, I go way above and beyond, and I'm willing to accept crap pay.

At least $25 an hour.

Just call her Alice, and expect to pay far more than $25/hr. if she's really good.

This would be a household manager role if your kids are mostly self-sufficient, and a household manager/nanny role if they are younger.

If you want someone who is self-directed, and will really run your household so that there is very little left for you to do, you are looking at starting rates of $22-$25/hr, I would think.

If you are going to leave lists and be more involved, making it more of a mother's helper/babysitter role, probably more like $20/hr.

I'm hoping to find someone like this when my children are older, and if I can find someone who is also a housekeeper and can take over for the weekly cleaners, as well as combining some of the other things I outsource for, I think I'll be able to offer a solid wage for that.

If you can afford it, check with some agencies for someone with experience doing this. She will be able to tell you how she can add value to your lives!

What we really need is a SAHM for 8 hours a day. Someone who will handle grocery shopping, some food prep and cleaning, school drop off and pick up, homework help, etc.

If someone asked you basically to take on anything a SAHM would do, and if you were open to taking it, what rate would you ask?
