This.

Agree with this. As your employer, she is free to let you know if the dates you've chosen work, but the way you presented it gave her way too much power to jerk you around. Next time send her notice of the dates you will be out, let her know when you intend to finalize your plans, and tell her that if she has a conflict to let you know by X date. Your open ended permission request gave her no real timeline for action, so she's going to do it when it's convenient (and is our vacation ever convenient for them???)

Well said.

No, I don't think it is too early to ask.

I would send another e-mail to her stating the reasons why you would like to know ASAP. Perhaps she hasn't taken all of what you mentioned into consideration yet.

I'm sure she will understand.

As long as it's in your contract that you have the time as your choice, send one email as confirmation that you've booked airfare and hotel accommodations. If your contract reads that it needs to be mutually decided or that it's their choice, you need to email and ask if she's looked at the schedule.

Stop asking her and tell her you will be taking your vacation at that time.

Hotels can almost always be canceled without fees this far out unless you're going through Priceline or something. Go ahead and book so you don't lose it!

Email her that you need to confirm your travel plans by 5pm this Friday (or even tomorrow) and to let you know if there's an issue.

That way you're in the clear if she says nothing about it.

MB here. I don't think it's too soon to ask.

Just email her and say what you said here (that you need to get your travel arrangements booked...)

Gracious of you to give them 3 months notice for your leave request! I hope she'll be equally gracious in responding.

I emailed my MB over a week ago to request PTO for May. She told me she'd look at some stuff and let me know if that would work for them.
I'd really like to get our travel arrangements booked, as we are planning the trip for Mother's Day weekend. I just want to be sure we can get a hotel and don't have to spend hundreds of extra dollars on airfare.
Is it too soon to ask for a decision?
