OP is generous, and the gift should not have strings - like use it to feed the children. Cash is always best!

And that speaks even more about your working relationship with the nanny. I wish all employers were like you, OP!

You're a rare gem, OP, to be so thoughtful of your nanny.

$50-100 would be wonderful. The fact that she opted to come in when she didn't have to do so speaks volumes about both you and the nanny, so, kudos OP!

I think that's a lovely thing.

We don't have the fed language in our contract (because we often have to work even if the fed is closed) but today I only had to go in to the office for a few hours. So our nanny is working a shorter day.

It lets her sleep in a bit, and leave before it gets dark or potentially icy. And it affords me some coverage so I can work a bit, get to the market, etc...

She'll be pleasantly surprised by your thoughtfulness. Sounds perfect to me.

Our nanny opted to come to work today despite that she could have taken off (per our contract she has off when OPM closes). She lives nearby, so no real commute, but I appreciate it nonetheless as work has not stopped for DH and me.

I was thinking of giving her a little extra money, maybe about $50? Is that appropriate to do? Is $50 too little? Too much?

Thanks for any guidance.
