I was in a great job that I was satisfied with, but I experienced an unexpected death in the family, followed by totalling my car and receiving a serious fracture. I could no longer handle working full-time and had to downgrade to a part-time position.

I absolutely love my new family but never see my previous charge any more because the mother was pissed that she had to replace me.

My former positions ended because of changes in the family dynamics and also kids going to school; I have had only one instance when I quit a job and I did so on the spot. I did have some concerns prior to quitting but they were not grave. I quit when asked to come in to work on a holiday but was not paid for it. When I asked about it, employer asked why I expected to be paid double and an argument ensued.

Though I do not regret quitting, I do regret the way my employment ended. I missed the kids and wished that I had been more diplomatic and given 2 weeks notice as per our contract terms and maintained contact with the family so I could visit the kids occasionally.

I quit because I was not feeling appreciated any more. I was going above and beyond, and I never got a thank you. I never got a raise in 4 years except a small one for second baby. I worked really hard teaching M4 reading and writing using my degree without appreciation. Never a happy birthday, Nannyversary, or Christmas gift/card. They undervalued me so much!

I rarely quit a job due to the child. In fact, never ever.

It is usually their parent's fault that I leave the family.

Being underpaid, job creep, well these are the top two reasons I leave. Also, I hate being micromanaged all day too.

If I have terrible chemistry with the parents and feel taken advantage of to the hilt, I have no guilt leaving them high and dry.

MB was completely blind to any and all behavior problems in her twins. Her kids were both spoiled rotten and astoundingly entitled and MB was willfully ignoring it. For example, after a week of asking her to buy a certain lego set for him, 5M once threw an all out screaming biting kicking head banging tantrum because MB had ordered the wrong set. He screamed for 4 hours straight, broke 5 plates, and tried to kick a window in. His sister threw a similar tantrum because she wanted to go strawberry picking in winter and someone had told her that strawberries don't grow in winter. This kind of thing happened every single day. I was a live in and every night the kids would bite and hit me or their Mom.

Last I heard they had gone through 3 nannies and au pairs since I left. MB talks about how kind and considerate her children are constantly, but both of them were recently suspended from kindergarten for violence to classmates. The kids always behaved with me, but MB has no boundaries with them. It makes me sad to think about how much they are being handicapped by her.

My last nanny job was a nightmare!
Partly my fault because I did not get a contact ( I really didn't know that I needed one )
Basically they ended up making me do anything but caring for their children ( 75% housekeeping, which I did not agree to and about 25% childcare, but with the older children, even though I was brought in for the little ones! )

The last straw was when they refused to pay me all of my pay because they didn't think I deserved it!

I could tell so many stories from that job but it take way to long to type it all up.

They continually challenged terms of our agreement, despite having signed it, made comments about how unfair guaranteed hours are, were constantly late and never paid the overtime, and they were reinforcing bad behavior and poor habits in their children. I gave them 4 weeks notice in an email response to one they sent me demanding that I agree to be paid salary going forward or lose all my PTO.

Parent was creating unnecessary difficulties for the child. A professional nanny can't tolerate that for long.

TBH, basically just a difference of opinions on child raising. MB says all the right things but her follow through was ridiculous. It was crappy too because the pay was through the roof (DB was president and founder of a large business in the medical field), the perks were awesome, they bought me gifts, provided a car and an apartment, etc.

Literally nothing else wrong, everything else was just OK but more than workable. MB wasn't my favorite employer ever, charge wasn't my favorite kid ever, etc but I would have gladly worked for them for years if we were on the same page.

I quit because of MB. She was condescending, and cheap. ALWAYS late, and treated me like a maid even after we discussed my contract. I gave her a months notice in person.
