Coulda just got a new nanny and started over at $15 or less. Why you would keep the same nanny for years after raising her rates is beyond me.

Because we trust THIS nanny. Because the kids are comfortable with THIS nanny. Because we like the working relationship we have with THIS nanny. If we were worried about cost over everything else, we'd just have stuck the kids in daycare instead of having a nanny at all.

So nice to hear from a smart parent.

Once with a family, my rate goes up with the addition of other children, other duties, extra research for special needs and other major changes, in addition to a raise each year. From family to family, it's different. Every family situation is evaluated separately, and I give each family my current rate for their family based on the information they give before and upon hire.

Exactly, I think the question was about those factors and how they interact.

Rates cannot be determined on here due to many factors.

I.e, location, duties expected, age/no.# of children, any special needs, etc.

Your ignorance is beyond me. I don't even want to know how many sitters you've cycled through, just to save a dime here and there. Your poor child!

Because they value that particular nanny's relationship with their children more than they value the extra money?

I'm curious as to what hourly rates other nannies charge and why. How has your hourly rate changed over the time you have been nannying? Do you raise it when you aquire a skill or certification?

Happy new year
