OP, I work the schedule you are looking for. I receive holiday pay if the holiday falls on a workday, 2 weeks paid vacation of my choosing, guaranteed hours, and 3 sick days. I am not in the DC area and started at $20/hr for 3 children- one in school. I have received annual raises and added to my holiday/vacation days annually. I charged slightly more for this family bc it was only 30 hours per week.

Are there toddler friendly activities within walking distance or public transport accessible? If so, will you put any restrictions on Nanny wrt travel with your toddler? If there are no walking distance places to take your dc, do you have a large home and yard that will help your Nanny prevent cabin fever in your dc?

You should expect to pay more per hour for pt work. If the average ft Nanny in your area makes $16/hrs plus overtime for a 50 hour week, you can calculate a pt hourly rate by taking 60% of $880 and dividing that number by 30. $17.60 or a bit more should get you a good candidate.

If you also know of a mom looking for 2 days a week, which would give Nanny full time hours, that would potentially help you find a candidate.

OP you can ignore this. Post at $15 an hour and you will be inundated with candidates. The nannies on this board are crazy and always trying to get $20 an hour to watch TV while their charges nap all day.

I think it depends on how close to DC you are. Out in Gaithersburg/Germantown the rates are lower than Potomac/Bethesda.

MB here. Rate is a bit low. $16-$18 will get you a more experienced nanny.

For three days per week at 10 hours per day, you're looking at 30 hours per week. If you can be flexible on which days depending on the candidates schedule, that would attract more candidates. Someone who is already working Tuesday and Thursday wont bother applying if you say you need Mon-Wed, but if you say that you will work with the nanny's schedule to choose the three days, you'll have more choice of candidates. You might also look at the posts in the share section. Some of the parents there have been listing nanny splits as well as nanny shares.

He typically will nap after lunch, from around 12-2:30

Also consider what qualifications you're looking for. Most highly qualified, experienced nannies in the area wouldn't even consider applying for anything less than $18/hr, especially for part time.

Don't forget you'll need to offer guaranteed hours/pay. Does the schedule change week to week or is it a set schedule?
