Probably $1000 sounds like a horrible day.

No less than $25/hour for every hour you are traveling to the gig, working, eating, or sleeping. Since I would be charging full rate for sleep time, I would not expect a food stipend.

My minimum would be $700

If you don't charge for sleep time, you should get a food stipend, amount determined by what an "average" meal costs where you are working.

And if you have to share a standard hotel room with 2 - 3 other women, you should charge your "overnight travel stipend" - Mine is $150 per night.

Thanks 23:22 I actually quoted $700 factoring in 4 hours of driving, 20 hours of working with 5-6 children. Honestly, any less wouldn't even be worth my time. Handling 3 kids can be a lot so let alone a whole weekend with 5-6 and at a rate of 20-25/hr that's a steal considering I charge that for 3 kids.

Ok, so 12-10 pm Sat, Sun is to 12 pm, but could be as early as 6 am?

1. I don't pay for my room/board for these types of gigs, I expect it to be covered, and the food needs to be something I can eat, not just whatever is cheap.
2. Normally I wouldn't charge for the commute, but this takes up the middle of a weekend. Factoring in length of commute and timing, I would definitely charge for the travel hours.
3. I would ask for clarification about the number of childcare workers and how the children are to be entertained. If they are going to be confined to one room and/or I am responsible for more than 5 kids at a time, my rate goes up. If there are at least 3 other adults working with 20 kids and I can take one group (like 2-3 year olds or 6-7 year olds) out for an activity, I'm willing to be more flexible.
4. I would clarify Sunday hours. If I need to be available at 6 am, it doesn't matter if kids don't show til 9 am, I'd still be in the room, ready for them at 6 am, and I would expect to be paid for those hours.

So, my lowest rate would be $20/hour, based on 5 or fewer kids in my group, and the ability to take them out of the main room. 4 hour commute plus 10 hours on Saturday and 6 hours on Sunday would be 20 hours, for a minimum rate of $400, plus food. That situation is highly doubtful, so I would quote $400-$1000 to the agency while asking for clarification before giving them an actual amount. My total would probably be about $600-800 as well.

As I stated, I'm sure they're seeking at least 3 sitters for this gig. I gave them a quote of $700 (wow, you're good!) and was told it was too much. Anything less isn't worth my 4 hours commute, the amount of hours I am working with 5-6 kids just by myself.

I am assuming the kids would remain in your care from saturday noon to sunday noon? so like 24 hours? That would mean $25 multiplies by 28h so $700. I would not bulge at all. because they are displacing you and who knows what will happen to you plus 20 kids will be hell.

Also I am a sitter. Can I ask which agency this is? I am interested in this gig as well since they are looking for girls. So please share their info, thanks.

What I said is what I meant. 20 children between the ages of 2 and 7 years old. I am working 12pm to 10pm and on Sunday, They just specified "morning" to noon. Clarified.

I'd never do business with such a scam agency. They're nuts. You can do better than that garbage.

I'll keep this short, the agency I belong to sent us a request for a ski trip, 2 hours away, 20 kids (2-7 year old kids). 1. We must find our own way there 2. Working from noon - 10 Sat, "morning" - noon on Sun. 3. Drive back two hours home so 4 hours round trip. They did not dosclose how many sitters this function are willing to hire, but I assume 3. They didn't mention whether this function will pay for us to sleep at this resort or food. Just out of curiousity, how much would you change with just the details I've provided you with? Please only nannies respond, no parents please. I sent in my rate (requested by agency) and was told it was too high thanks in advance
