They could have given youtwo week's notice and then just paid out half of your vacation (one week - since you've only been with them six months) and you'd end up w/ free time but less money.

I would let it go, unless you would rather not work. If you'd rather not work you could say "can we consider the last week half of my vacation payout" so that you work for 3 weeks and then get a week paid.

But if you didn't have anything in writing, and they are already giving you a full month notice, I think they're being pretty decent.
there is NO Decent Here to me they being unfair I never work family like that I never will!!!!. I wish they they could be present to discuss this matter they could have clear understanding there act.

Please please work on your english.

Why do you think you are entitled to 2 weeks of vacation for only 6 months of work? Maybe if you had made it to 1 year, but you weren't meeting their childs needs and they moved on, so you arent owed anything.

1 week of vacation and 1 PTO day is reasonable. PP, how do you know that they aren't switching to daycare due to finances or something else which the nanny wouldn't be able to control or foresee?

I'm a MB, and don't give all the vacation at the start of hiring. You earn a little each pay period. So if you worked for me, at six months in you would have only earned one week of vacation.

That is your problem you decide to take your vacation early that have nothing to do with the employee... when you decide to put your kids in the preschool you must tell her in advance she or he can find a job try not to be take advantage of her OKAY? it's not fear .what comes around goes around good luck !!!

pp here again. the 2 weeks was more than likely 1 wk their choosing, 1 week yours? since you have been there 6 months I would feel being paid 1 week sufficient esp considering no contract. jmho

Yea it was verbal. When I started they badly needed somebody and nothing was documented

oh ok I understand. maybe you should write by email stating this was said on a particular date and ask how they feel this should be handled going forth. if they are legit people they will read it and really try to be fair.

Hi, I have been working for this family for 6 months now and they have decided to take the kid to a full time preschool program so we are parting ways in one month. My concern is that I haven't used my 2wks vacation and 2 personal days. Should be paid for it?
