Go with the new job! A huge jump in pay can make such a big difference for your finances! do the trial, see if you like the contract and then give notice. Offer to help your MB by helping find a new nanny, or offer to stay late a time or two so she can interviews, wish her well and move on! Its always hard but you can do this
This is not the op's responsibility. She has a life and shouldn't be given more work by the current family doubling as an agency because she found a better position. They can do after dinner interviews, lunch date interview, or the weekends. Her mb is newly pregnant and is capable just like she found her
Agreed, it's not the nanny's responsibility to offer time for interviews. I have agreed to let the top two candidates have shadow days with my charges and I, but sometimes it can be very upsetting for the kids. If the family asks the nanny to babysit outside of normal hours or to extend a shift or two so that they can interview, the nanny can refuse or agree.

this happened to me...I made plans to move on because they were happy with having one and then they had a surprise baby. I ended up staying because I loved the family, despite the (slightly) higher paying job with fewer hours I'd found. I preferred staying with a family I was SO happy with than taking the chance of working with a miserable family.
in the end, I'm really happy I stayed. I'll be moving on this spring, when the youngest goes to preschool. I ended up being with this family for 7 years and no regrets here

For you to have a working trial day next week, does this mean that this new job could possibly start soon? How much notice did you plan on giving your current bosses?

Op, it sounds like you were ready to move on because the kids were growing up and you like working with younger kids more? If so, I would suggest talking to your MB, see what her plans are, but I would probably hold off for a week or two until being pregnant again isn't quite as overwhelming, especially because it was unplanned. If you were planning on moving on because you felt that the family was getting too comfortable and you would have trouble leaving later, I would think that staying with a new baby would make that even worse.

Plan as though you didn't know. They might decide to put this child in daycare or she may decide to quit or any number of things. If you were unhappy enough to look for another job, keep that plan.

So I've been with my family a few years, I'm ready to move on. I've been interviewing and think I've found a good next fit. I have a working trial next week.
My mb told me today that she's pregnant!!! Say what??? They weren't trying, were complete with the kids they have, so it's a big BIG surprise. It's early so still in the waiting stages (and it still may not go to term).
Now I feel horrible! I'm making plans, ready to move on and blam this.
