If it's about a babysitter, it belongs in with discussion on babysitters. If it's a question about nannies, there are several threads already active.

I do 8 hours a week with a family and last Xmas I got 8 hours worth of cash in an envelope and some chocolates with a card. I'd only been working for them for three months before so I didn't even expect anything, but it was surely extremely nice.
Cash is always best, but for someone so part-time I think some chocolates or a bottle of wine would be lovely.

I saw an article in this month's Good Housekeeping magazine and it stated for a babysitter/nanny the equivalent of one typical shift.
That sounds best to me.
And if your kiddos have the ability and inclination, a hand made card from them would be the icing on the cake.

This belongs in the babysitter section, not the general section for nannies.

It depends on what you think she might appreciate. As mentioned on several other threads, cash in an envelope is always a safe thing.

I've had someone watch my kids 4-6 hrs/ week, almost every week, since Sept. What would you give in this situation?
