It was in our contract that she was paid on 10 major holidays, Thanksgiving and Black Friday were two of them.

But, I wanted to add that if this is a regular, FT employee that you hope to maintain a positive, long term relationship with, this lack of clarity on thanksgiving pay is big warning sign that there are gaps in your planning. You need to discuss and explicitly clarify all sorts of things like vacation pay, sick time, holiday pay, guaranteed schedule and/guaranteed payments, etc, etc. All of this should be in a written contract.
