Live-in nanny here. Most of the time, I work it, because the kids are home and one or both parents have things they want to do for at least part of the day. I don't care about having it off, so it's not a big deal to me.

As a live in nanny I've always had it off.

Nanny here. I have the day off. I negotiated this into my contract. I also get Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve - but don't get days like Columbus, Veterans, MLK, Presidents Days.

MB here. I get the day after Thanksgiving off, in lieu of getting Veteran's Day - so the same goes for the nanny.

We will be out of the country for the holiday so the nanny will have a five-day weekend off.

I just went ahead and told them I needed the entire week off. Grandparents came to town and I can't deal when grandma follows me around. If be stress eating all week lol. Need room for turkey

It is not official Federal holiday. Many people that get federal holidays off have to work. My DH will work. I have it off, and nanny has it off. However, I don't get Veterans Day off for example, so I don't give it off to the nanny, but DH is off. It's one day a year he can relax and have "me time" which usually translates in catching up on house projects, and nanny is making a face that she has to work... I have to remind her that it's either that or she won't have day after thanksgiving off...

I have it off, so I am giving my nanny the day off. However, it was not written into her contract as a holiday.
