We give our nanny one week pay - $700 cash on the books so it's really about $850 out of pocket. And I must say to us it's a lot but my sense is nannies here expect more.

Do you gift to everyone? We don't. You don't need to gift to your mailman and trash pick up for doing their job. Nor hairdresser - we tip nicely all year.

I usually receive a gift around 500$ then two weeks bonus. I have been with them for almost four years.
In past jobs, I've received a gift ~300 then anywhere from 1k-3k.

I've heard a week's pay is expected - I've yet to receive that. In the past I've only received gifts. Twice $100 gift cards, and most recently a gift item valued at $550.

MB here - we usually do one week's pay, though we're also away for a week at Christmas so the nanny gets that as a paid holiday as well

I have used one week of NET pay as my measure. That has typically been in the range of $400-600 (on the lower end earlier in the nanny's tenure, increasing as salary increased.)

With every family I worked for in the DC area, I always received at least two weeks pay for Christmas. There will be others that will say one week or a gift card, but for me, it was at least two weeks of pay.
