Unlike you, most nannies are not overpaid. Also, I would be upset if my na,by have an expensive gift to my child. Dollar Stores have some very nice books, puzzles for children.

Debbie downer has spoken! no boo, I wasn't OVERPAID but rightfully compensated based on my qualification, job at hand, and hours I put in. Plus I am a smart shopper…don't have to settle for dollar store or thrifshops, although nothing wrong with shopping in those places if that's your preference.

Exactly. Control freak parents need to control themselves, not others.

You sound like a very caring nanny, I think your idea(s) are excellent.

In my opinion...One can never have too many books.

One book for each would be fine. Don't go overboard.

I would think that was very sweet. I have a weekly babysitter, and she got my ds a small puzzle for her birthday. It was a small gift and a lovely gesture. I think something small like a book would definately be appropriate.

Birthday presents are a nice gesture and perfectly appropriate. We have an occasional babysitter who does this for my children and it's never seemed weird.

I'm a part time nanny for an almost 2 year old and almost 4 year old.
I've been with the family 15 months working about 15-20 hours a week sometimes less.
The kids birthdays are coming up, I didn't get anything last year as I had just started working for them and thought that might be strange.
Anyway, I'm thinking of getting books for the kids. The kids love being read too and have loads of books, it's encouraged by their parents.
Just wondering if a book for each of them and maybe one to share would be weird since I didn't do anything last year and since I"m so very part time.
They also celebrate Hanukkah and Christmas, around their birthdays and I thought it would be nice to do something only birthday related for them.
Thoughts?
