We transitioned from au pairs to this kind of set up (although we do not use full time hours because there is simply not enough to do, we use 25 hours a week). We used care.com to find someone and it has worked out really well. It does not involve any "child care" per se because the kids don't need to be taken care of but they do need to be driven around a little bit. Her job is mainly housekeeping and running other errands as needed, but she also picks up one DD every day after school and takes DDs to afterschool activities as needed.

I actually disagree with this. A lot of people list themselves in the housekeeper section who do many different things because there's not a better place. The nanny section tends to be more people who are only interested in childcare and explicitly not interested in housekeeping. Those nannies who will alos do housekeeping tend to list in both sections.

Same way you would look for a nanny. Use an agency, try Care or Craigslist, maybe even college job boards.

It's a full time job, so should appeal to someone. Just be clear what the duties are, list fair pay (and mileage reimbursement or provide a car), and I'm sure you'll have lots of applicants.

We are looking for a housekeeper who will also drive our late elementary/middle school kids to their activities in the afternoon, and ideally also do some dinner prep/make dinner. FT job. We have had au pairs for years now but our kids are getting too old for it, we are too busy, and we want live-out help now.

What is the best way to search for people to do this? We need someone legal.
