Chicago nanny here. I make $925/we before taxes for 45/hrs. 3 weeks vacation. (Standard is two. One week of your choice, one week of hers) 3 sick, 6 holidays but also Christmas eve, new years eve and the day after thanksgiving. Guaranteed pay and overtime.

I'm a Chicago nanny. I make $750/ week before taxes for about 40hrs/week, as well as cash for gas on top of that and my pay is guaranteed every week with all days off paid. I also get overtime for hours worked past a certain time each day, although my case is special due to the long daily hours needed. Just to give you an idea of the market.

I work near Lakeview. I have a BA in child psychology and 6 years full time experience. I take home $18/hr after taxes. I work 50 hours a week, have 2 weeks paid vacation of my choice, guaranteed hours, 7 paid holidays, and 5 sick days.

The numbers I gave you are after taxes have been withheld.

We are looking for a nanny in the Lakeview ( Southport Corridor) area of Chicago. The job will be 45hr/week for a 3 month old. We want a nanny with 5+ infant experience, willing to do light housekeeping for the baby, and active enough to take our son to neighborhood classes. Added perk will be a nanny that can drive and babysit for date nights a few times a month.

We want to treat our nanny as a professional -- contract, vacation, paid holidays, etc. What we are confused on is what rate to offer and how much vacation? We anticipate having the nanny for many years, giving bonuses and yearly raises.

We saw some nannies asking $12 and some asking $25. We don't want to pay outrageously, but we also want to pay well enough that our nanny won't jump ship.
