Some places have a freebie week that you can take during the year - but it's not the norm. The norm is that you pay for the spot - regardless of whether your kid is there each day or not.

Not sure how that 50% thing works over the summer because if my 3yo doesnt go, thats a space in the 3yo room which doesnt help when someone with an 8yo needs care over the summer.
13.05, discounts only work for in-home care, or if they can move young children into the same room to free up a room for older kids.

This is posted in the wrong place. Daycares have their own section in the parent forums.
With that said, you pay daycare if you want your spot held. That means vacation, when the child is sick or when you just keep the child home. Some daycares will allow a discount of up to 50% if you don't have your child there for the summer, but need you spot held, because they can easily find a child to fill your spot for just the summer at full price. The rest of the time, it's the normal fee.

Hi- FTM here. Do you typically pay daycare fees when you are on vacation for a whole week and the child won't be in care at all?
