You don't sound like a nanny at all. But here's a REALITY CHECK for you. When you hire an unknown person to be the care provider, there's no way you can control these things.
What's ingrained is ingrained. You can keep fooling yourself otherwise, if you prefer.
I'm curious as to what part of my response makes you think I'm not a nanny. I have been a nanny for almost ten years now, and have worked with children in other capacities for even longer. I take pride in what I do.
As to your "point," of course this sort of belief is ingrained in a person from childhood. That is precisely why this post is such a concern. I am certain the parents do not want such thoughts in their children's inner monologues their whole lives. And yes, in a nanny/employer relationship, some issues will pop up which are not foreseeable. This is not necessarily one of them. However, it is important to interview carefully and hire someone who will assist the parents to instill the desired values in their children, and also to address issues such as this as they occur.
I also find it telling that the posts I flagged and asked Jeff to check were deleted.
How naive you are. Best to hire a person who shares your values if you care about values. It's not rocket science, my dear.

Would you care to expound on this? It sounds like you're saying that you are attacking my words in favor of defending "nannies" who don't truly look out for their charges, "nannies" who instill negative messages into their charges' inner monologues, "nannies" who do any number of other things which are damaging to their charges, simply because they share a profession with us. But I'm sure you wouldn't be actively trying to lower our status and reputation as informed, loving caretakers of other's children, worthy of respect, benefits, and good compensation, just to stop someone from being fired or having an uncomfortable conversation with her employer. So please, explain what you actually meant.

I don't care how experienced she is. It's not a nanny's place to tell a child she can't climb simply because she's a girl. This is 2015, there is no reason to force children to fit into antiquated gender roles, it's not the nanny's place.

NP - If I see something like this I would not report on DCUM, but if would never want for my little girl a nanny who teaches her she cannot do certain things because she is a girl (fine is nanny tells her she cannot do stuff because she is too young, still too short, net heavy enough and so on, but not because of her gender, unless it is peeing standing up in front of the toilet).
