Nope never. Maybe a thank you for like if I agree to stay late last minute or come in earlier. But for anything else no

I'm sort of in the same boat. I've taught my 5 yr old to build words and addition and subtraction over the summer and go above and beyond with crafts and keeping their areas organized etc. mb doesn't acknowledge it but will start requesting that I do things that I STARTED in the first place. Never a "that's great" or "I appreciate you doing more than we ever imagined" But will rant and rave over a scribbled color sheet or connect the dots picture from school. Go figure

Not really but she also never gives negative feedback. I know the family likes me as I've been there for years.

How sad for you. I usually got positive feedback, to varying degrees, from most of my families. It's such a wonderful feeling.

I am a nanny and I always appreciate hearing a "Thank You" from my bosses every now and then. Oh just a kind message letting me know they think I am doing a great job.

Since they have told neighbors they are happy with you plus you are getting your raises and benefits, that solidifies everything.

Perhaps they think that by giving you a raise and bonus are letting you know how happy they are with you. Or maybe they are the type of folk who feel awkward/uncomfortable praising someone directly.

I get as a nanny that you would like a kind word every now and then to boost morale.

I think your employers are just shy in telling you to your face.

MB here. I do. We meet for lunch once a week near my office since I work long hours and often don't see him before I leave or after I get home. So it's generally saved for then. But if he did something spectacular then I'll leave a note to be found the following morning.

Nope, they don't give me feedback unless I ask for it. I mostly figure that if something were wrong they'd complain, and that hiring a nanny doesn't mean you have experience managing an employee. I ask for a formal annual review and periodically ask for performance evaluations throughout the year.

My employers don't give me feedback either. At my review I hear, we are happy, hope you are too. Now and then it would be nice to hear something positive, I've been with them 4 years.

My weekend MB is wonderful about always telling me when I have done good work with her child and always thanks me. Always. She also always asks for my advice.

MB is a very, very well-bred woman and a generous person in general. She has more friends than anyone I have ever met and an adoring husband.

PP again. I bet your MB is jealous of your relationship with her child and abilities to care/teach him/her.

Yes, of course, she does. I am sorry for you, OP. All employees need positive feedback from their bosses.

Just wondering if my MB is unusual.

MB never once, in two years, has ever given me positive feedback on anything I may be doing well or correctly regarding her child. At my annual review, I was given the raise and additional benefits I requested and told that all was well. I know I am a great nanny. Neighbors have told me that they have approached DB and MB on weekends and told them how wonderful I am with my charge and how lucky they are to have me (and yet these compliments are never relayed to me by MB/DB).

I am told when there is something they do not want me to do.

Is my situation unusual? I have always been praised for my work with children either as a teacher or a nanny. TIA
