PP here that requested you calm down: I don't demand flex time - it's part of our deal. Today she asked for Tuesday afternoon off for a doctor's appointment, she needs to go. It is inconvenient for me but ok, she needs to go to the doctor and she works full time for me. She doesn't lose vacation or sick time (since she is a professional) and she doesn't earn less money for this week- she just gets to go because it's our deal. Just like when I have something in the evening, she stays with my kids. Keep in mind its on the schedule.

I'm sure my nanny has lots of complaints about me and I about her, but I am saying that for the most part, it's good for both of us. no one is 100% happy all the time and we are going on many years of all living together.

Also, she is our first (only)_ live in nanny. We had a live out before and were not specifically looking for a live in. But she advertised as wanting a live in position and we interviewed her and we liked her so that's how it happened -- not that I told her she had to live in and it's not a requirement for working for me.

I'm sure there are lots of people taking advantage of their nannies and also lots of nannies taking advantage of their employees but I'm not one of them.

5 days a week, 1 child not in school, doesn't matter how much the other two are in school because they will be sick, they will have in-service days and they will have breaks. As a live-in nanny, I would be willing to do 20-30 hours/week for a flat salary of $350-$450 per week, but only if there's a set schedule and I could have another part-time position.

Frankly, most families don't want to have a set schedule for a live-in, so I don't take any positions that would gross less than $550/week, and it goes up with more children, hours and responsibilities. I don't care what the living arrangements are, they're never nice enough for me to take a massive pay cut.

PP here - My nanny is on salary but it's roughly in the range of 10-15 per hour, depending on the week. Part of our deal is some weeks are busy, some are slow, she gets the same salary so we don't have to count hours. Some weeks for sure, I come out ahead, some weeks she comes out ahead, it all washes. If I want to go out in the evening, I put it on our weekly schedule and she works.

Yes, I agree, depends on hours worked, availability, what you provide in terms of benefits (besides room and board or whatever), tasks, etc, but in that range.
